Alumnus Danny Chau (Class of 2000, BBA in Marketing) has recently received Fellowship presented by LIBF, who is the first Macau citizen to receive this professional honour. He is also the Fellow of UK CIM-Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM) and UK CMI-Chartered Management Institute (FCMI).
With rich experience in finance industry, he has been working in the sector for about 20 years. He served as Deputy General Manager of Macau Insurance Company Ltd. In 2014, he started up his own company GoldChess Asia Consulting Ltd. and established the MMI-Macau Marketing Institute in 2018. In 2020, he established the AS King medical supplies company in Macao to participate and contribute to the anti-epidemic works.
Talking about his entrepreneurial experiences, Danny believed that the factors for successful entrepreneurship include having a team that shares a common goal, ideas and fortifies by mutual trust.
Danny cared about and always gave back to his alma mater with his personal experiences. Currently, he is the Vice-Chairman of the University of Macau Alumni Association. He has participated as a mentor of the Alumni Mentorship Scheme (AMS) for several years to share his learning and working experiences with students, he suggested the younger generation to do things with confidence, to be bold enough to make new attempts; well-equipped yourself and actively participate in social affairs to broaden your social network and seize opportunities.
Moreover, he also served as a lecturer to teach the “Marketing and Service Strategy Course”, which is one of management training courses for the SME business that organized by the alma mater during the period of epidemic. He said that he had gained a lot from his university life and hoped that the younger brothers and sisters will remember the teaching of alma mater, support its future development and become UM members who give back to the society.
