Recently, alumnus Wong Tin Chon (Michael) was invited as the guest speaker of the sharing session themed “Talking about Macao History with Comics”. He shared his creative work experiences with Shiu Pong College (SPC) students, the alumni sharing session aims to inspire students to cultivate positive attitudes and values.
Michael introduced the development of Macao’s animation industry to students. He also shared how he published a series of educational comic books – “Macao Comic Book Series”, which themed on the local history and Macao as the designated World Heritage site with the combinations of comic features and local historical stories, aiming to motivate readers to learn about Macao’s history and culture through funny comic strips.
Michael advised students to cherish their university and campus life, as well as equipping themselves with personal skills and professional knowledge. For students who plan to work or starting a business after graduation, he shared his own experiences to teach them how to stick to their personal goals, deal with pressures and let themselves to grow from learning and experiences.
Alumnus Wong obtained a Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Chinese Communication studies in 1998. Currently, he is currently served as Vice Supervisor General of the Supervisory Board of the Alumni Association of University of Macau Students’ Union; President of the Macao Comickers Association and Vice President of the Guangzhou Animation Artists Association. He has more than 20 years of cultural and creative work experiences in the animation and comic industry in Macao and China.
