The “Macao Comic Book Series” 10th anniversary exhibition cum “Macao Zheng Guanying” book launch ceremony, which was co-organized by Alumni and Development Office (ADO) and Alumni Association of University of Macau students’ Union (AAUMSU), was held on 17 September (Saturday) at the University Gallery (E1). Mr. Wang Yuwei, Representative from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Lam Lon Wai, Member of the Legislative Council of the Macao SAR; Prof. Rui Paulo da Silva Martins, Vice Rector (Global Affairs); Dr. Wu Jianzhong, University Librarian; Ms. Cindy Lam, Director of ADO; Mr. Paul Pang, Dean of Students; Mr. Zheng Guoqiang, President of the Association for Macau Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection; Mr. Chan Pan, Vice President of AAUMSU; and Mr. Wong Tin Chon, Author of “Macao Comic Book Series” attended the opening and book launch ceremony.
Mr. Wong Tin Chon and Mr. Chan Liang, Chairman of the Association for Macau Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection also held a sharing session, 2022 marks the 180th anniversary of the birth of Zheng Guanying, who was a native of Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. Zheng was a pioneering thinker and industrialist in modern China and had held important positions in Shanghai. He compiled his masterpiece “Words of Warning to a Prosperous Age” during his residence in Macao, which had a profound impact on the modern Chinese history. The new book “Macao Zheng Guanying” captures Zheng’s life experiences in Zhongshan City, Macao and Shanghai, and aims to enhance readers’ understanding of Zheng’s thoughts, as well as promoting education in local history and humanities. The “Macao Comic Book Series” 10th anniversary exhibition will be held at the University Gallery (E1) from now till 25 September, and you are welcome to pay a visit during this period.
