UM is the only public comprehensive university in Macao. In order to nurture high-calibre professionals, the University of Macau (UM) offers scholarships and assistantships for PhD students, who upon admission will receive a monthly allowance of up to MOP 20,000. UM also offers assistantships for master’s students, who upon admission will receive a monthly allowance of up to MOP 8,000.

UM Macao PhD Scholarship (MPDS)

The MPDS provides each awardee with a monthly allowance of MOP 20,000 for a period of up to four years, as well as a conference or research-related travel allowance of up to MOP10,000 per academic year, for a period of up to four years.

UM PhD Assistantship

The assistantship provides each new recipient with a monthly allowance of between MOP 12,500 and MOP14,000, for a period of up to four years.

*PhD students will receive a scholarship or an assistantship depending on their qualifications and academic achievements

UM Master Assistantship

Master’s students can apply for assistantship. Upon successful application, each applicant will receive an allowance of MOP 4,000 or MOP 8,000. The duration and amount of the assistantship will be determined by the supervisor or academic unit concerned.
