The closing ceremony of the “2020/2021 Alumni Mentorship Scheme”, which was co-organized by the Alumni and Development Office (ADO) and the Career Development Centre (CDC), was held on 6 March 2021 (Saturday) at the Banquet Hall in UM Guest House. The scheme lasted for five months, it attracted more than 130 alumni and students to participate this year, which had reached the highest over the years, young alumni were also invited to join as alumni mentees for the first time this year. The scheme provided opportunities for alumni mentors and student mentees to meet regularly and share their experiences with each other. In addition, a series of team-building activities such as archery workshop, Zentangle workshop and tea gathering sessions were also organized to foster friendships between mentors and mentees.
Vice Rector (Global Affairs), Prof. Rui Paulo da Silva Martins recognized the scheme’s contribution at the closing ceremony and encouraged students to learn from their mentors, he also hoped that the connections made in the scheme can turn into lifetime friendships. Apart from the appreciation certificates to all mentors and mentees, the “Outstanding Mentees” award was also presented to three students at the ceremony. The award was given to Li Hong, Wong Chi Hou and alumna Gong Yawen by their mentors Mr. Tou Chan Kao and Mr. Ao Io Weng respectively.
“Alumni Mentorship Scheme” aims to encourage alumni to give back to their alma mater while creating opportunities for students to know more about society. The new batch of scheme will be opened for application in August 2021.
